Editing Process ePortfolio

By: Lana Moody

Hello and welcome to my Editing Process ePortfolio! This project was done for my final assignment in ENC6216 Editing Professional Writing.
It is a way to demonstrate how I have applied the skills learned throughout the semester. The ePortfolio features three main categories: editing samples from weekly modules and homework, the textual development assignment that was the main project of the class, and a reflection statement that draws upon course readings and details the integration of my editing skills.

This section showcases various editing samples from the weekly modules and homework assignments throughout the semester.

This section provides examples of collaboration between writer and editor, along with the full revision process of a conference proposal.

This section presents my final reflection statement explaining how I practiced and integrated the teachings in editing the sample texts.

My Philosophy
on Editing

I believe that as an editor, it is vital to retain the author's voice, yet have it be the most refined and effective as possible. The point of editing is to revise what exists instead of completely re-writing it, unless there is an agreement otherwise between the author and editor.

I strive to respect the author’s conscious writing choices, while ascertaining all elements of the rhetorical situation are met.
